WMS Gaming’s video slots titles Super Monopoly Money, Monopoly Big Event and Monopoly Once Around Deluxe are all aimed fans of the famous board game. Epic Monopoly 2, the most recent WMS title with this theme, includes the Colossal Reels engine WMS has already introduced in some of their other slots.

So Epic Monopoly 2 plays on not one, but two sets of reels: one with a standard five-reel, four-row layout, and another five-reeler alongside it that displays 12 rows. This allows for 100 paylines. Players can bet a minimum of 0.01 in whatever currency is in use and cover two lines, so all 100 paylines can be played for 0.50 per spin. The maximum bet per spin is 250.00.

Familiar Monopoly Artefacts Double as Symbols

Monopoly enthusiasts will recognise the Epic Monopoly 2 symbols immediately; familiar playing tokens like the battleship, the top hat and the car, among others, are joined by Mr Monopoly with his white moustache, and his little white dog. There is also a man and a woman; all the icons are rendered in detailed but clear graphics against reels the same colour as the Monopoly board.

Mr Monopoly and his dog are two icons that can stack on either set of reels, filling between four and eight positions on a reel at once. The Epic Wild icon also has this ability. Any Epic Wild stacks that fill an entire reel on the smaller, left-hand set are automatically transferred, so that they appear stacked on the same reel in the 12-row set on the right. Thanks to the 100 paylines, these stacked and duplicated symbols are responsible for the best wins in base play.

Bonus Features within Bonus Features

A bird’s-eye view of a Monopoly board is the Epic Monopoly 2 Scatter symbol, which appears only on Reels 1, 3 and 5 on both reels. This means, however, that as many as six Scatters can appear on any spin. Four Scatters applies a 10X multiplier to the total bet, five Scatters add 50X, and for all six Scatters, the multiplier grows to 100X.

Three Scatters or more also trigger the Epic Wheel Bonus. A Wheel of Fortune appears on a new screen, and the player spins it to win one of three prizes: Epic Free Spins, the Epic Chance Bonus or the Around The Board Bonus. Epic Free Spins are assigned in varying sets of 7, 10, or 20 by the Wheel, and more Scatters during Free Spins rounds will trigger more spins, but not another turn on the Wheel.

In the Epic Chance Bonus, players must pick one card from five, to reveal a prize that can be a multiplier of the basic two-line bet as high as 500X, 10 dice rolls on the Around The Board Bonus, 20 free spins, or a bet multiplier plus the choice of another card.

If the Around The Board bonus is triggered, the screen changes to a 3D version of a Monopoly board, with Mr Monopoly as the playing token. The player gets a set number of dice rolls, and Mr Monopoly moves around the board. At each regular street stop, the player must pick one of five cards to reveal a prize; either coins, extra dice rolls, or another pick plus a multiplier. Special sites, like Utilities, Railways or Go, offer more coins or multipliers, or even more games within the game. On Railways, for example, players pick one of four trains to win extra coins and multipliers, or more picks.
